Laureus Sport for Good and Nike co-hosted the “Coach the Dream: Changing Sport for Girls Summit” in Tokyo – an inspirational event to drive even greater positive change for girls across Japan through the power of sport and play.
During the summit, local coaches engaged in discussions with experts and athletes and marked a celebration of five years since the launch of Play Academy with Naomi Osaka – an initiative in partnership with Naomi Osaka, Nike and Laureus Sport for Good.
Girls from the local community also had the opportunity to participate in a day of sport and activities with multi-Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka; Laureus Academy Member and five-time Olympic gold medalist Missy Franklin; and Olympic sprinter and Laureus Ambassador Dai Tamesue.
The “Japanese Coaching Guide for Girls” was unveiled at the summit, a research-backed resource which aims to provide coaches in Japan with the skills and knowledge to create a more inclusive and supportive sport environment for girls. Download the Guide (available only in Japanese language) on Play Academy’s website.
